Trouble sending (not receiving) POP email in Outlook 2003

This has just started happening in the last couple of days. Basically
I can send SOME messages, but not others, via Send / Receive via my
Yahoo POP email account. I have not checked any other POP accounts as
this is the only one I use. Receiving ALWAYS works, as does the 'Test
Account Settings' in the Email Account setup. I have checked all of
the relevant 'usual' problem sources:

[1] disabled ALL antivirus (services actually disabled) and all AV
processes killed
[2] made sure no antivirus mail scanning inbound or outbound
[3] put Outlook in online mode only
[4] verified, via 'Test Account Settings' that I can send and receive
emails via my Yahoo POP email (ALWAYS works fine - I always get my
test email sent)

I have the Send/Receive notifications turned on. When I try to do a
Send/Receive (manually or automatic) I get:


Task 'pop.mail.yahoo.com - Sending' reported error (0x80040201) :
'Unknown Error 0x80040201'

....displayed in the Outlook Send/Receive Progress dialog.

I have tried to send a number of different emails: some with embedded
images, some with URLs in the body, some with attachments, etc. This
test was inconclusive.

This is really frustrating - any help or ideas would be most welcome.

I'm guessing that one of the recipients in the messages that won't send are
bad. The error you're getting indicates an unknown "EntryId", which I'm
guessing is the EntryId of one of the recipients. It may be that your
nickname cache (which is responsible for the auto-completion of addresses)
or one of your Contacts is corrupted. See if there is a correlation between
who you're sending to and which messages get sent. Then try deleting the
corresponding auto-completion entry or contact and see if the problem goes
away.

I have the exact same problem - it just started the other day. When I read this post, I thought you might have solved my problem, but I've been through the nicknames and deleted all the suspects - still gettin

Task 'Endemeo - Sending' reported error (0x80040201): 'Unknown Error 0x8004020

on send/receive. All outgoing mail seems to be getting out, but I notice during the send/receive, in the status bar lower right, it says "sending message 1 of 2" when I'm only sending one message out. It would appear there's another message in a queue somewhere with a problem in it, and I have no idea how to get to it...

Please help!!

I have tried to send a number of different emails: some with embedded

images, some with URLs in the body, some with attachments, etc. This
test was inconclusive.
This is really frustrating - any help or ideas would be most welcome.
