trouble opening word 2003 files

I have Word 2003 and recently I am having problems opening the files. The
program only opens in safe mode and I can create new files and save them but
not open them again once I close it and I can't open any old files (also
created in Word 2003). I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling etc but
with no success. Has anyone any suggestions? I think it may have happened
when I had a clean up of my computer but I can't find which necessary file I
have deleted and why this hasn't been replaced when I reinstalled it. HELP
PLEASE!!

Hi,

You are able to create new word documents but when you say you are not able
to open existing saved word documents, what happens exactly. Do you get any
error message..?
