Trouble loading user profile

I shut down my computer normally and when restarting I get an error, "windows
cannot load locally stored profile: insufficient security rights or corrupt
local profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log
off." It looks like my profile is still intact in documents and settings,
but windows is possibly being directed to the wrong place??? Does anyone
know what could have caused this? And is there a fix?

In the event log I see a system error:
Error code 000000ea, parameter1 82c7e230, parameter2 8216cda0, parameter3
82c787a0, parameter4 00000001. Category: (102), Event ID: 1003

and on subsequent reboots I get this error three times:
The device, \Device\Harddisk0\D, has a bad block.

It sounds like your drive may have failed. I'd download and run a disk
diagnostic utility from the drive manufacturer's web site.
