Trouble deleting line

Hello.

In version of MS WORD X for Mac I am having removing a section break in
my novel.

I created the break by holding down the shift key and hyphen key. At
the end of the line it turned into a section break of sorts. The
problem is, I can move the break one line down at a time by holding my
cursor over the section. However, I cannot highlight it to delete it.

I have been able to recreate the same break in a new document and have
no trouble at all deleting it so I do not know what is going on.

It is killing me.

Any help greatly appreciated.

It's a paragraph border, not a section break.
