Trouble connecting to secured websites

In the last week, I am able to access general websites,
but any secured ones (ie banking account, credit card), I
am unable to access anymore. I have no control blocks on
my computer and have not visited any unusual websites
which may have created this problem. I keep getting the
run around from Gateway and AOL. Can someone suggest
what I might do to be able to get to all websites?
