trouble adding new users to a secured split database

I have a front-end/back-end database that is secured. When I try to add a new
user it gives me the error message : Not a valid account or password. I have
redone the step manually and using the security wizard, with the same result.

How are you adding the user? The simplest way is to use the Tools - Security - User and Group Accounts menu option. Note
that you must do this will logged in as a user with the correct permissions; generally, a member of the Admins group can
do this.

Generally, you shouldn't re-run the security wizard.

As I said originally, I went through the steps manually using both the User
and Groups accounts and the User Permissions, that did not work, then I tried
the security wizard. It would add the new user to the one but not the other.
I was logged on as the Administrator also. I appreicate the response.

I take it you mean that after adding a user, when you attempt to login using the new username/password, you get that error.

When you add a user using the security menu, you specify a user and a PID. The PID is not the password. Try logging in as the new user with a blank password.

Only the wizard provides an opportunity to specify a password for a new user.
