Suddenly Task Manager no longer works... Cntrl+Alt+Delete, Taskbar -->
Task Manger... Nothing

I've used the registry tweaks, scanned my comp for spyware, the only
thing I haven't been able to attempt is extracting files from my XP CD
with COMMAND LINE because I can't seem to enter any text into COMMAND
LINE... its totally non-responsive, thus I can't seem to extract any of
the taskmgr files.

My only clue is that it happened suddenly and that I don't have a
taskmgr.exe file in my WINDOWS folder... though there is a TASKMAN.exe
that doesn't respond.

Thanks in Advance!

taskmgr.exe should be in...
C:\WINDOWS\system32
and
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache

Do you get an error message using Ctrl + Al + Delete?

Error Message: "Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator"

Does Task Manger open for a split second and then close?

Then you have a virus.

Task Manager, MSCONFIG, or REGEDIT disappear while opening
http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/ToolsQuit.htm

To start Task Manager:

Ctrl + Alt + Delete
or
Ctrl + Shift + Esc
or
Right click the Taskbar | Task Manager
or
Start | Run | Type: taskmgr | Click OK
or
Create a Desktop Shortcut to taskmgr.exe
or
Double click on C:\WINDOWS\system32\taskmgr.exe

Ctrl + Alt + Delete opens the Windows Security window if the Welcome screen
is turned off.

You mention scanning for spyware, but what do you have installed for
full-featured antivirus protection? The disappearance/malfunction of
these items can be associated with viruses.

In the meantime, see:
