transitions

I still have PPt 2000, and XP.

I found some transitions (jpgs) in another programme and saved them.

Am I able to add new transitions to the ones already in the powerpoint?
Couldn't find where these are in the prog, or what kind of files they are.

Or am I wasting my time.

Tried googling before I came here, but I am not going to waste any more time
