Transitions freezing during playback in Media Player

Hello, I'm just getting to know Moviemaker and already seem to have hit a
snag with transitions when replaying a movie back on Media Player. Movies
with transitions between video clips seem to work fine, as do movies made up
of still photos with transitions between each image, but a transition from
video to a photo freezes when played back with Media Player. This happens
however small the movie is (I've been working with short clips just to try to
crack this problem) - it plays smoothly in Picasa though!

I'd be grateful for any advice or pointers, by the way the files start off
as AVI clips and JPEG stills and are saved as WMV movies.

Just out of curiosity try converting the JPG to BMP and see what happens.
I personally have never had a problem with JPG images but others have so
it's worth a shot.
