Transferring document folder between users

I reinstalled XP without deleting my documents. Nice. But they're all
stored under a different user, even though I'm the only person using the
computer and I typed in the same user name during the reinstall.

I just want to know if I can move all the docs from the old My Documents
folder to the new one without messing things up. I know I have to reinstall
all apps...that's fine with me. But can I move the docs without causing
something bad to happen? Thanks.

So just drag and drop the files into the new user document folder,
right? What about all the application data and local settings? Just
leave them be, yes?

Alternatively:
1. Create a brand new user at the appropriate level (admin or user).
2. Back up old default user Documents and Settings (and email etc.)
using the D&S Wizard.
3. Copy old default D&S data to the new user.
4. Test new user profile to be sure local settings, My Documents,
old emails etc. are exactly the way you prefer.
5. Delete the old default user.
6. (Retain the D&S backup file for the time being, just for insurance.)

Yes, right click copy or move. Your applications will need to be
reinstalled.
