Transfering to a new hard drive

I am running Windows XP Pro and have just installed a new
160 gig HD. Using a cloning program like "ghost", will I
be able to duplicate the contents of my 40 gig HD and
still have the balance of the 160 gig drive. Or will I
end up with a 40 gig partition duplicating the one I
already have.
