Transfering Files from Vista to XP

I want to traansfer files from my new Vista machine to my older XP machine,
but the XP will not read them. How can I transfer from Vista to XP, and,
from XP back to Vista.

Hi, Alan.

As peter said, it might be very important to know what kind of files are
involved, and if you have the proper applications on both machines.

There are many ways to transfer files these days. If you don't have a way
to network the two machines, perhaps the easiest way is with a USB flash
drive. Do both machines have USB ports?

If you are using tools like the Windows Easy Transfer or Files and Settings
Transfer Wizard, you don't. These are one-way transfer programs - WET moves
files and settings into Vista, FSTW moves files and settings into XP.

If you are doing something different than the above then please be much more
specific in what method you are using, what the results (including full
error messages) are, and what you would expect to happen.

Once you set up a network for both machines, it's easy using Shared
Folders. However, setting up a network isn't always simple.

The USB stick approach works well, assuming both machines have available
USB slots.

What do you mean by XP will not read the files? Be specific.
