Transfer Outlook 2003 data from XP to new Vista PC with Outlook 20

I have a new notebook with Vista and Outlook 2007 installed. I want to bring
all my Outlook 2003 folders, calendar and contacts (address book) from my old
notebook to my new notebook's Outlook 2007. Is there a document available
that will give me all the steps I need to go through to achieve this? TIA Ron

Thank you for your response Pat.
That information is what I am looking for. There is no mention of contacts
(address book), calendar and tasks in this documents. Is the data for these
included in the .PST files? Thanks Ron

You're welcome! Yes, all Outlook data are stored in PST files. You may
have only one, or you may have more than one. Make sure that you copy
all that you actually use (there may be other, unused ones - you can
check it by its creation or last-update date).

Hurrah! An MS site that doesn't mention "import"...now perhaps someone at MS
will change the relevant KB article to reflect this....

Yes, I was surprised myself!

Pat, does that include the attachments that came in with the e-mali but were
not saved seperately? I am hoping to start the copy process this weekend. Ron

Pat, one more thing I just came across. The user name in the 2003 version of
Outlook is First Name Last Name. The user name on the Vista Ultimate OS is
First Name only. Will this stop me from accessing the PST files on the new
installation? TIA Ron

Pat, thanks for the responses on the last two queries. It's Sunday night and
I'm about to attempt to make the files transfer once I complete the backup of
the XP systems. It's taken some time to get Vista working OK on the two new
notebooks. But I am pleased with the results so far. I hope that the last
stage will be successful. I plan to install the Outlook without the internet
connection activated so as to not bring data in that would be duplication of
what I will be copying over from the 2003 Outlook. Messages are kept on
server for 5 days. Thanks for your assistance on this project. Ron
