Transfer from Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2003

I want to transfer the entire email environment from Outlook 2000 under WinME
to Outlook 2003 under WinXP Home Sp2. I archived the entire ME personal
folders (29meg), zipped it, FTP'd it to the XP, and unzipped it as a single
..pst file. Now I want to restore this file into Outlook 2003. Since I had
trouble trying this with the ABF Outlook Backup software, I'm skeptical about
the restore procedure, especially since the Outlook 2003 file paths are
different from those in Outlook 2000. Does anybody have any
warnings/suggestions on this before I bite the bullet?

29 megs of old mail now on the new machine! Thank you for your help! Now I
still have one problem: Apparently, the contacts weren't saved with the
e-mails, but I do have a separate archive file of just the contacts. I
assume I have to incorporate them into Personal Folders.pst, but I don't know
how. Can you help, please?

Something's wrong here. If you had transferred your default PST file, all
your Contacts would be in it.
Contacts are never archived.
You can open any PST file in Outlook and copy data from it into your current
default. (File > Open > Outlook data file...). Whatever you do, don't import
the file.

I started off by archiving Personal Folders in Outlook 2000. I thought
Contacts would have been captured as well. When I finally got it all
transferred to Outlook 2003, the Contacts were not there. I went back to
2000 and (tried to) archive just Contacts, transferred that across but could
not restore them in 2003. I thought I might concatenate them with the
Personal Folders archive. (Does Windows have a utility to concatenate
files?) I tried to do a copy+ in DOS, but ended up with a short copy,
presumably because of an end-of-file indication where I didn't want it. At
this point, I decided simply to re-key the contacts and let it go at that.
The big thing was the 29 megs of data that came across fine, and I thank you
again for that.

One last thing: I didn't understand your "You can open any PST file in
Outlook and copy data from it into your current default. (File > Open >
Outlook data file...). Whatever you do, don't import the file." If you're
feeling generous, would you please expand on that a little? Thanks.

You are making this far more difficult than it is. You do not have to
archive your Outlook data or export your Outlook data in order to transfer
it. That's an unnecessary step that will only lose information, as you have
now discovered.
All you need to do is copy your Outlook data file and open it in your other
installation or make it the default for you other installation. It's all in
the article I posted.

Bud, I want to do just the opposite. A few weeks back my home PC suddenly
changed from Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2003 without my chaging anything on my
PC. Do you know how to restore Outlook 2000? I am using Windows XP and I am
not very PC savy. Could you give me easy to follow instructions as to how I
can remove Outlook 2003 and restore Outlook 2000?

Thank you.

What makes you think that your machine has Outlook 2003 on it now but
didn't before? Under Help | About what version does it say you have?
