You either install and configure your old outlook data file on the new PC
first, or on the old pc transfer data from Outlook to Outlook Express, then
copy your Express msg store to the new PC for Mail to Import

Vista will not read the dbx files. I spent hours on the internet and forums
with no results until I came across a company that makes a trial version and
full version of a program that will allow you to go in to you old outlook
express folders and retreive the dbx files and convert them so Windows Mail
can read them. Long process but I had over 1500 outlook express emails to
lose so I antied up the $29.95 to get the program.

When I wrote them, this is what they wrote back which prompted me to
download the trial first, the having found that to work, bought the full
program.

DBXTriever will help you extract emails as eml format files from dbx format
files. When you have eml files, you can drag/drop them into your Outlook or
Windows Mail's folder like this video showing:
http://www.dbxtriever.com/video/emltooe.gif . Then you will have your old
emails again.

I think it was self promotion. See the link in the signature.

Imagine I were to post that I had lost all my messages and found this great
program (DBXpress) that recovered thousands of them.

And then sign the message with the link to the page below it.

DUH.
