Trailing strip on print out from ip4000

Colonel Blip

Hello, All!

I am having a problem printing photos from MS Publisher 2k3 and Adobe
Elements and Corel PhotoPaint 12 to my Canon ip4000 and wanted to see if
others have noticed the same thing. The problem:when I print what should be
borderless there is alway a small (maybe 1/8-1/4 inch) unprinted strip on
the trailing end (out of the printer) of the photo. I can expand the photo
to oversize it beyond the size of the paper and the strip remains. A friend
has noticed the same problem on his ip4000 using applications other than
Canon's Easy PhotoPrint, which, BTW doesn't have the problem.

Anyone else here seen this happen?

Thanks,
Colonel Blip.

Sounds like the software is expecting a 4x6 with removable tab as the
paper type. Check the paper type settings and ensure you have borderless
selected as the photo type in your printer driver settings.

Check the borderless print box on the page setup in the printer software and
experiment with the slider that sets the image extension. This printer will
do true borderless prints but does adjust the image to extend slightly
beyond the edge of the paper with slight ink overspray beyond the edges to
avoid any white paper showing. You can increase or decrease this extension
with the slider. Should work with any of the software packages you
mentioned. On my i960 (similar software for page setup) with PE3 I crop
images to 4x6 dimension and print with the settings I noted. The default
extension setting on the slider is (counting from the left) the third
position. I have been using the second from the left position. I should
really experiment with it to see if I would like it better in a different
position.

Settings are for correct size paper and borderless printing is selected
and maximum extension on slider is set.

Do you have an ip4000 and if so what s/w do you use to print
borderless?

BTW, these are same setting I used with previous i950 and I never had
this problem.

All setting are as you suggested (in my case to max extension) and like
you, on my i950 I had no problem printing borderless. On the ip4000 no
such luck.

That's odd.

What about the default setting in the printer driver?
Do you have an ip4000 and if so what s/w do you use to print

I don't have a 4000, but a friend has an iP3000 and I used to have an
i850. I've used Easy Photo Print on both and never had a problem.
BTW, these are same setting I used with previous i950 and I never had
this problem.

Perhaps it's a driver issue. Have you tried upgrading to the latest
printer drivers?

I've duplicated the same problem with my iP4000. Borderless works fine with
Easy Photo Print although the amount of extension is about 7% which makes
certain photos unusable. With other programs, the trailing edge will have a
white border of between 1/32" and 1/4" although the top and sides print
borderless.

I do not have this problem with my i4000. I have printed from Adobe
Photoshop LE version 4 onto 8 x10 borderless. No strip. Haven't tried 4x6
except with Easyprint.
