Tracking the # of emails in a folder

There used to be a field in the lower left hand corner of my Outlook screen
that indicated how many emails were in a folder (inbox, sent, etc.). One
day, I hit a key that made the box holding this data disappear.
Does anyone know how to re-introduce this feature to the regular view of a
folder?

I activated view--> status bar, but I can't seem to see the email count when
I click on the folder. Are there additional steps required?

If I look under System Information, it says the version # is 5.0.2195 Service
pack 4 build 2195

It is there now. It must have taken a moment for the screen to refresh.

For future reference, try posting OE problems in an Outlook Express news
group - this is not one of them.
Outlook is a part of Microsoft Office and is what this group supports.
Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer and has its own news groups.
