Tracked Changes

I am taking courses online and collaborate on papers. I have had several
problems with getting tracked changes to turn off and also having sections of
my paper disappear and I am unable to get them back. In addition, none of
the tracked changes marks are appearing on my computer. I check to see if
they are hidden etc...and I do not see anything that would suggest why these
problems are happening. Can anyone help with this? I am wondering if maybe
one of my classmates has something marked on their computer that is not
allowing me to put my additions in.
