Track Changes - reviewer seeing different colors

I am editing a document for a client. I set it up that corrections and
insertions are done in different colors. When I e-mail the doc to her, she
sees them all in the same color. How can I ensure that she sees the same
colors I do? P.S. I have Word 2003; she has Word 2007.

You'd instruct her to change the settings in her Track Changes
Options, just as you did in your copy of Word.

Tell her to select the Review tab, click the arrow at the bottom of the
Track Changes button in the Tracking group, and choose Change Tracking
Options. In the Track Changes Options dialog, she should change the settings
to "By author." Just be aware that, while this will result in her seeing
different colors for different reviewers, it will not guarantee that she
sees the same colors you do. For example, your changes may be red on your
machine and blue on hers, but they will be a different color from hers.

This should work, but for me it does not. I am using Word 2007, typing a
document in Word 2003 compatibility mode. I have selecetd to show changes by
author. I have checked my "reviewer identity" which is correctly set to my
name. There has been only one other reviewer of this document before me.

I enter my changes and they are beautifully shown in a different colour from
the original author and reviewer's mark-up. Then I save the document, and
all changes are immediately shown in the same colour. Is this a Word bug, or
is there another setting I need to change?

There is a setting in Word 2003 (Tools | Options | Security) to "Remove
personal information from file properties on save," which has the effect you
describe. The setting in Word 2007 is differently implemented and, IIRC,
different for compatibility mode (*.doc) documents from *.docx. There are
settings related to this in Office Button | Prepare | Inspect Document, but
I have found those quite confusing.

Perhaps someone who is more familiar with Word 2007 can chime in here?
