Tower telling XP it has two processors?!?!?

Nathan Harbin

Hey all,

I have a pavilion a450n desktop, 1 gig of ram, 3.0 P4 with HT.

Under task manager/performace it is reporting that there are two
processors. Under device manager, for processor it shows two entries.

I am very confused as I know it's a single-processor system and don't
know what would cause it to be reported otherwise. Have checked with a
free utility downloaded from intel that identifies processor, etc...

Any thoughts on this strange behavior?

Thanks in advance...

Nathan

That is normal. A Hyper-Threading equipped processor pretends
to be two "logical" processors to the host operating system.

That HT stands for Hyper-Threading. Take a look here for an
