TouchPad Mouse/Pointing Device jumps

Perhaps this is inherent in many Microsoft systems - the pointing device
takes on a life of its own by jumping at random all over the screen. I
have the new TouchPad driver from the supplier but that makes little to
no difference. I have also changed the pointing device's driver to the
Synaptics latest release. Doesn't matter. Mouse/Pointing Device still
has a life of its own.

Tell me, does this only happen when you are typing? Or can you just sit
back and watch the pointer jump around the screen?

You see, I'll bet it's only when you are typing, and this is a really well
known problem with laptops and nothing whatever to do with Vista.

The heel of your thumb brushes the touchpad, which gets detected as a
'click' on wherever the pointer happens to be resting.
