Total Complete Disaster with XP Pro SP2

Hello,

Please help!

I suffered a total complete failure by installing the Service Pack 2
of Win XP2. This has never happened before. Previous upgrades and
installations have gone by without a problem. I have had nothing but
great praise for XP Pro - its been a fast, stable and reliable OS
prior to Service Pack 2.

After installing SP2, the computer got stuck at the WinXp startup
splash screen. I cannot even access the desktop even by going thru
safemode. It was a total dead end. The least I could do was access the
command prompt but I was barred and restricted from even accessing
"D:\My Documents".

I did a CD boot and attempted to repair XP. I got pass the WinXP
startup screen but hit the dreaded Blue Screen (of death). The error
message was
STOP C0000135... Unable to locate component (doesn't say which one) -
failed to start because WINSERV was not found... recommend
reinstalling...

I reinstalled XP Pro on C drive but I found I still could not access
"D:\MY DOCUMENT" folder which was located on a seperate partition. I
received this error message "MY DOCUMENTS is not accessible. Access is
denied" Strangely enough - it registers ZERO bytes on the folder. I
store all my emails, word documents in that folder. The other wierd
thing is that the same error also occurs on another folder - which
contains completely an old obsolete small game. Its also located in
the same parition.

This sort of thing has never happened before. I have always been very
prompt in updating my computer OS and firewall and anti-virus
programs.

I am using Windows XP Pro SP1 with all critical updates done (one by
one)
Firewall is Zone Alarm Pro 5.1, Grisoft AVG. I also use Trojan Hunter,
Adware6, and TrendMicro's online scanner.

My computer system is a P4 3.0 Prescott, Asus P4P800S, 1G RAM,
PFUHL2keyboard, Geforce4Ti4800SE, Creative CDRW 32x, Sony DVDROM,
Mirage 400W powersupply, IntelliExplorer mouse. Cable modem - Motorola
SB5100.

I had turned off several of the MS Services using www.blackviper.com
recommendations when I installed XPProSP1 a few months ago. But I have
had no problems.

Why did "D:\My Documents" get affected by the SP2 patch? I can't even
delete it. Should I now reformat my entire Data drive?

Or has my system been compromised and hacked when I installed SP2?

I did a full virus and trojan scan prior to installing the Service
Pack 2 - but the scanners which included Trend Micro online scanner -
couldn't find a thing.

Please advice.

Bessie
