Three minutes between posting the question doesn't leave
much time to those who might have an answer.

Windows XP Home would be on one (1) CD.

What was on the other two CDs you used?

Norton can cause issues and if you did not turn the XP
firewall ON before you went on-line to do your updates, your
computer was open to infection from Blaster and possibly
other worms.

Since you posted your real Hotmail address, you can expect
the spammers and the virus spreaders will have harvested
your name and will be making sure you get plenty of bad
email.
