Tools>Macro>Security not available

D

Diana V Girling

New Installation of Access 2003. Installed Jet 4.0
engine. Help says to select Tools>Macro>Security to
change level to LOW, but the Security option is greyed-
out.

Still get irritating opening window even though I only
get one instead of two I got w/o Jet 4.0 upgrade.

Any Suggestions?

The applicable registry keys are:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Jet\4.0\Engines]
"SandBoxMode"=dword:00000002

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Access\Security]
"Level"=dword:00000001

If you save above to a text file with REG extension...and then double click
on the file, the settings will be imported and you will no longer get the
prompt.

You can restore the menu items by following the instructions in the
following KB article:

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=833219

Then you'll be able to change these settings without directly modifying the
registry.

That also works....sometimes. However, so many people have said they could
not reset the menu that I have found the registry fix far more
straightforward.
