Tools > Account Settings > Change Folder doesn't respond the way I expected.

Running OL2007 SP2 under Vista Home Premium SP2. This is a loose string
left over from a previous thread that seems to have run out of steam.

I have four accounts and two data files. I could use two profiles, but I
want them both visible at the same time, with a common Contacts folder. I
want to deliver mail for two accounts into one of the data files, and mail
for the other two accounts into the second data file. I thought I had done
this before with no problem, and I can't think of anything that I may have
changed that would cause it to fail. I accomplished this (and a lot of
other logic) under OL2003, with the generous usage of "through the ___
account", but this didn't want to transfer to OL2007, so I took the simpler
approach discussed here.

I can specify the receiving folder for the first pair and their associated
data file with no problem; however, for the second pair, it won't let me
associate them with a folder in *their* data file -- it just leaves it
blank. It's almost as though the MS expert who said that the receiving
folder must be in the data file for the default sending folder was telling
the truth, but that makes absolutely no sense to me.

(For the record, I am not using the official basic folder name "Inbox" to
receive messages. I'm using K_Inbox and R_Inbox. The K and R are mnemonic
for me.)

Let's safely assume that I'm wrong somewhere here. I had one thought that
could solve things for me; i.e., have both K_Inbox and R_Inbox in the K
(default) data file. With proper positioning in the Favorites pane, it
would look as though all the K folders were together and the same for the R
folders. Am I asking for trouble by doing this?

You've never done this. In every version of Outlook, it is only possible to
deliver mail to your default PST file. Anything you want to do automatically
with a message after you receive it after that requires creating a rule to
move the message.
