Toolbar?

Hello, All!

Anyone have a recommendation on a good toolbar addition for XP, similar to
the shortcut bar that came with Office XP (no longer use).

I've tried Apivision and have conflicts and took a look at H-menu (think
that was the name) and it wasn't very user friendly for my use.

Thanks,
Colonel Blip.

there used to be one called buttonbar (looked the like tool bar in Office
4.3 for Win3x) which i've lost myself; i think the last freeware version
was 2.x or something like that.

it does work on Win2K and XP as well.

you mean this one? http://www.uwe-sieber.de/bbar_e.html
It's limited in "free" version, but a great peace of software.
BBar is freeware as long as not more than 10 buttons, 20 items in
the main menu and 5 items in each clipboard menu are used. If
there are more items in use, BBar becomes shareware and it shows
sometimes a nag screen when it's closed. The probability for the
nag screen grows with each extra item.

I don't know a version totally unlimited and free. But, even
when it's off-topic here, I registered it, as I have not found
a usable free alternative. At work I use "jetToolBar", which
is okay, but nothing more...

version 2.01 or something like that; ran on both my win3x laptop and
winxp machines)

but you're right, there is nothing like it, nice, simple, small.

I've been using RUNit for ages now (development stopped approximatelly
same time though). Not exactly a toolbar, more of a drop-down menu.

I don't know what *type* of toolbar you want.
If you want one that extends explorer with lots of useful tools?
Google for DMEXBAR. V8 works with Win98, V9 says it doesn't (but it does).

The best one is http://www.freelaunchbar.com/

It is a replacement for Windows quick launch but you can create your
own dockable tool bars also. To me it is the best (I am a registered
user of the commercial version). I have created a bar called Top Launch
that docks at the top of my screen. It so nicely integrates into
Windows that you wouldn't know it wasn't just part of it.

Yes, I've used both. Freelaunchbar is better, IMO. I actually have
Truelaunchbar, it's non-free big-brother. The developer works hard to
make an excellent product. I don't know if Objectdock has a free
version, they might, but I also have the non-free version of that.
Objectdock is very good too, but it was not as efficient as TLB both
resource wise and accessibility wise.

But now, what I am using is a pop-up menu that I wrote using Autohotkey
(totally free!). The menu will pop-up where ever your mouse cursor is.
It has sub-menus and is very fast and very light. You see, the thing
that I did not like about using toolbars is having to move my mouse over
to the toolbar to access the menus. I gave NextStart a try too, which
has this pop-up menu capability, but it had some bugs.

Almost ended up with RunIt (very simple yet efficient - only problem was it
was a menu rather than buttons). Then I found Jetbar at www.jetaudio.com. It
appears to meet all of my needs. Thanks for the feedback from everyone.

Thanks,
