Toolbar, text labels, window sizing problems

Once in a while, Internet Explorer will open up a browser window that it will
totally mess up my toolbar settings, the text labels settings, and the window
sizing options . I run all kinds of antispyware apps as well as antivirus,
and I don't go to any questionable sites. Oddly enough, this happens most
often when I use MS help from within a MS application, or after I perform
some kind of update to Internet Explorer.

In a nutshell, I have my text labels for IE set to be show text labels,
large icons. Below that, I have the address toolbar, the links toolbar, the
MSN toolbar, and then the google toolbar. I have the toolbars locked.

Sometimes the whole thing gets messed up. I can't figure it out because i
have the toolbars locked and I don't know why this would happen. The window
resizing thing happens more often, but I've figured out that if I open a new
browser (I have mine set to open blank with the -nohome switch), go to any
website, resize the window the way I like it, and then immediately close it,
it will come up the next time the same way I left it. I wish there was also
a way to lock this down so it never changes without my permission.

Has anyone seen this behavior before and more importantly, does anyone have
a fix? Thanks.

Best alternative that I have seen is Gary Smith's suggestion to make a Links item
which would allow you to quickly restore your preferred size and position.

Note: Gary Smith posted in April a refinement of an idea I have been
crediting Helmut Rohrbeck for:

The closest think I've found to a fix is to create a favorite named
"Position" with a URL of "javascript:resizeTo(900,700);moveTo(75,1)"
and put it on my Links bar.
That way I can fix the windows position with a single click.
You'd need to change the numbers to suit your own situation.

Neat refinement! You could even create a shortcut key for that then.
(Right-click, Properties of your Favorite.)
