Too many tasks start at boot time

I have a long list of tasks started at boot time and many of them are not
necessary. What can I do to avoid their starting at boot time? Thanks very
much for your help.

Open each individual programs (the ones that are loading at boot)
preferences and tell them NOT to set at startup/logon.

Use something like start button --> run --> msconfig --> ok --> startup tab
to figure out exactly what loads and where to go (registry editor, startup
folder, services, etc) to remove it from starting up...

How To Ask Questions The Smart Way

I thank you very much for your time and help. I managed to reduce active tasks from 53 to 35. Great advice.
Take care,
Al
