F

Francois Uguen

I use windowsXP for family and i am the only person to use the computer. I
am administrator, i use a password and the guess account is not activated.
In the register HKEY_USERS hive i have got the following split :
..DEFAULT
S-1-5-18
S-1-5-19
S-1-5-19_classes
S-1-5-20
S-1-5-20_classes
S-1-5-21-........
S-1-5-21-........ classes
Can i delete the branch S-1-5-18 19 and 20 which does not appear useful.
Thanks in advance
François

Francois ,

Do not delete ANY of these keys.
These are operatng system objects and profiles used by the OS.

The System profile (S-1-5-18)
Network Service profile (S-1-5-20)
Local Service profile (S-1-5-19)

They are part of a list of well known system SIDS (security identifiers)

\CREATOR OWNER S-1-3-0
\EVERYONE S-1-1-0
NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK S-1-5-2
NT AUTHORITY\INTERACTIVE S-1-5-4
NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM S-1-5-18
NT AUTHORITY\authenticated users S-1-5-11
NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE S-1-5-19
NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE S-1-5-20

It may not appear usefull but may very well be! Is it
causing any problems?
Be carefull! If you delete registry keys without knowing
what they do you may end up with a totally non
functionning computer.
If it's not causing any problems I would not touch them.
