Toner line of left margin

Kram

Greetings,

I just bought a used hp 4100 laserjet (10,000 pages) and when I print a
toner line shows up an inch and a half from the left margin of the 8 1/2 by
11 paper. Is this a toner issue are is there something else that would be
causing this?

Thanks, Mark

You need to do a test to find out.
Print a page from the multipurpose tray.
When the trailing edge of the page just disappears into the printer quickly
open the toner door to stop the printer.
Remove the toner cartridge and look at the paper in the printer. If the line is
present then the cause is an imaging issue which is 99% certain to be the toner
cartridge.
If the mark is not present then pull the paper carefully out of the printer, if
the mark is present on the part of the paper that had passed into the fuser at
the back of the printer then you have a fuser problem.
Usually this is a toner cartridge, I hope it is because fusers cost quite a bit.
