To see what is hidden

Why is it that I cannot see hidden files in WXP?

I go to My Computer/Tools/Folder Options/view, then I select
Show_Hidden_Files_and_Folders, I hit Apply, OK, but hidden files stay
hidden.

Same thing with un-checking the Hide_Protected_Operating_System_Files
checkbox.

Any workarounds?

In Explorer go to the root of the partition (C:)
Check: Show hidden files and folders
Uncheck: Hide extensions for know file types
Uncheck: Hide protected operating system files
Then click the "Apply to All Folders" button.

Thx JS, The problem is, this does not work in my case. It reverts right
back to hiding
files/folders. Can someone tell me what gives?
