Time for a new PC

Well after 2 years of upgrading my system with more Memory, upgraded
cpu and video card I think its time for an entirely new system. My
Current system: Pentium 4 2.8 ghz - 1 gig DDR SDRAM - 6800 Video Card -
2 DVD Drives My MB: BIOSTAR U8788


The problem my system has is two fold: I can't upgrade video card
any more because my power supply is only 400 watts. And newer card
require SLI Slots and mine is the old AGP on my motherboard. Also the
max my MB Can hold is a pentium 4 2.8.

So should I get the newest and best Dual core 2 or just Dual core for
my next system?

Neither.

You can get "80% of the performance for 50% of the price" (Maximum PC
magazine) by stepping down just one step from the Core 2 Extreme to the Core
2 Duo.

Core 2 Duo is a significant improvement over the Core Duo, but you need not
get the top-of-the-line Core 2 Extreme.
