time calculator

S

Scott

A friend recently changed systems and has effectively lost a long
cherished registered utility that was used in a non-profit setting. The
software is no longer supported and thus can't be replaced. He used it
to figure hours worked for his agency personnel where they still use
paper cards. I figured if anyone would know or have a lead, it would be
ya'll.

So...

Can anyone recommend a time calculator? Best would be input of time and
calculation of time difference. Freeware would be great but low cost
shareware ok too.

I dug around on Google and came up dry. TimeCalc is the closest but its
a bit pricey for what is needed. Surely there is a small handy dandy
utility for this in either a DOS window or a small windows app.

Thanks for any tips or leads.

There's a list of apps here:

I like STG TimeCalc.

http://www.stgsys.com/quickies.asp

A very simple program to add times or subtract date/times. It has 3
different modes- date/time, date and time. Dates are always ignored when
adding (after all, what should be the result of a date sum?). I decided
not to use the standard calculator style, I think it looks confusing.
There is a Carry Time button, if you want to carry time from the result
to the first time field.

Calendar Magic at http://www.stokepoges.plus.com has a Time Calculator
as one of its many features. If it's not exactly what's needed let me
know what else should be added/changed.

I've written one, it cost $15, its called TimeCalculator funnily enough, please
have a look at http://www.mtzone.co.uk/tc.html , I know a number of users use
it for the same sort of thing you're after.
Hope this helps.

I don't normally get involved in stupid petty arguments, but he did say low
cost shareware, and as no one had really come up with a solution, I decided to
post my reply, and if he could put up with the nag every now and then, then he
could use it as long as possible without buying it.

I read another message in this group, from a user who just stumbled in, and
couldn't belive how petty and nasty people could be.

Lets hope you don't need any help, next time I'll just keep my help to myself.

Please. Just keep it to yourself.
BTW. You know what you get when you go into a Usenet group and are grossly
off-topic you are going to get flamed.
The OP made a mistake in asking for payware.

Problem with Usenet and getting worse, too many inflexible experts.

Whilst I can understand your concern re the ACF be totally freeware it should
be remembered that the OP asked for the following

"Can anyone recommend a time calculator? Best would be input of time and
calculation of time difference. Freeware would be great but low cost
shareware ok too."

Only fair that Marks response should be accepted without criticism.(The
assumption here is that Mark was trying to help)
Perhaps the OP should be chastised for requesting SHAREWARE in this forum.
:)

My opinion for what it is worth.

No, the OP did _not_ make a mistake, what they wanted was a solution,
that was all.

Saying that "I would like a freeware solution, but failing that any
shareware suggestions would be welcome" is only an error in the eyes of
those terminally thicker than the proverbial three planks.

Grow up Susan .... the request was for a solution .... preferrably
freeware. Surely you don't mind HELPING people ?, which is all TryThat
was doing.

F*ck your planks.
This is a freeware group and he had the benefit of making a mistake, unlike
I would give you.

Thanks.... I didn't mean to set you up for criticism. I just wanted to
communicate a flexible attitude and not cut out possible solutions. I'll
give it to him to look at and let him decide for himself. Thanks to the
tips I've gleaned, I have pulled together a number of choices that may
solve his problem.
