Hello,
Windows xp do not display annotation toolbar for tiff files and
modification of summary is rejected. However, if I do the
following :
1- Tranfer a tiff file to a second pc using windows 98se
2- Read the tiff file with kodakimaging.exe
3- copy the tiff file with option of kodakimagin: change the
color to sRGB.
4- Return the copy to my pc using xp
Then, I can display annotation toolbar and modify summary data.
But only for this tiff file.
remarks . If dooing item 3 I do a copy without changing color to
sRGB, I get teh same trouble as discribed above.
I display tiff file with windows explorer using : windows picture and
fax wiever as is stated in documentation.
thanks for youe help

Hello Pierre,

Where did that TIF file come from in the first place? What color space are
they saved in?

Thanks,
Gregg Rivers [MSFT]

Hello Gregg,
Sorry for late answer. I got a cold for two weeks.
Tiff files are issued from Nikon scan. But jpg files modified to
tiff using photoshop element 2 do the same.
Color profil used for scanning is SRGB.
Recently, I analysed a tiff file using a tagviewer software I found the
following:
Nikon scan use a private tag 34665 witch is read only mode. It seems
that is the reason why Windows Explorer does'nt work properly.
When I modify a tiff file using kodakimaging, the new tiff file has a
new tag 32934 instead of 34665. Then it is possible to see the
annotation toolbar and modify summary of properties. Those tags are
used to enter exif data. No patch available from Nikon. Adobe is now
the
owner of tiff specifications and I think only professionals can ask for
get help from this company. Same problem wih Microsoft
I hope that help you.
Pierre
