Ticket Text in PowerPoint 2000 Only

I need to create a scrolling text box across the bottom of each slide in a
PPT 2000 presentation. I have looked at some of the previous suggestions but
believe they are for newer versions of PPT. I can get the text box to scroll
in from the right, but then it stops in the middle of the screen. I need it
to continuously scroll (loop)from right to left and then back on the right
again. Can I do this with this version of PPT?

All help is greatly appreciated.

This is possible if you are doing it on a single slide, but requires the use
of custom show.

Use Crawn In animation with direction "From Right".
Click Order & Timing tab, Start animation "Automatically" 00:00.
Click ok.
Move your text away from the slide, to the left of the slide.

Now, click Slide Show > Custom Shows.
Create a new custom show and add the ticker slide into the custom show.
Close custom show.
Click Slide Show > Slide Transition.
Put a checkmark to "Automatically After".
Click Slide Show > Set Up Show.
Under Show options, put a checkmark to "Loop continuously until 'Esc'".
Click Ok.
Click View > Slide Sorter. Right click on the thumbnail of the ticker slide,
select Hide Slide.
Click View > Normal View.

Now, add a dummy slide just before the ticker slide.
Create an action button on the dummy slide and have the action button
hyperlinks to the Custom Show. This will allow you to enter the custom show
once you click on the action button.
Put a checkmark to "Show and return" if you want to return to the dummy
slide.

When viewing the presentation, clicking the action button on the dummy slide
will bring you to the ticker slide. Once you are done with the ticker slide,
press Esc key to go back to the dummy slide. Then advance to
the rest of the presentation by pressing Enter key.

I have uploaded a sample here, check out Sample No. 8:

Shawn,
LPS is using 2000... No new animations...

LPS:
I don't know if you can make this work in 2000. You probably need to upgrade
to a newer version to make this work.

Hi "Tohlz". You have gone to a huge amount of effort for me and I really
appreciate it. I tried what you suggested and it works the way you said, but
unfortunately I need the ticker tape to run acrosss 10 slides, not just one.
I think Kathy Jacobs may be right... I need a newer version of PPT. Version
2000 is limited.

If you know of a way to make that ticker tape go across more than one slide,
I would love to know how to do it.

Thank you very much for your help.

Yes Kathy, this solution is for 2000. Tried it personally already.
LPS, if you want it to run across ten slides, I would recommend to upgrade
to the latest version, which actually make your life easier.

He's right - I'm confused. Go back about your business. Nothing else to see
here.. (Other than one very embarrassed MVP)
