When I go to My Computer>c: (or any drive) this message comes on
screen "Windows can't find "RECYCLER
\S-1-4-88-100019603-100015245-100016713-2712.COM"
make sure you had spelling correct..............words to that effect.
I have to view my drives by opening through the address bar.
All tips/info gratefully received. :)

This has to do with Norton.  Go to Tools/Folder Options/View.
Under Hidden files and folders select - Show hidden....and uncheck Hide
protected operating....

Apply/Ok

Thanks for the prompt answer, Kelly. I followed your tips but with no
result. I also ran the latest Norton Removal tool (it removed some
stuff, not sure if it was from Norton as I haven't touched Norton for
a couple of years now) I d'loaded your repair kit. Handy to have but
see nothing regarding my present fault. I rebooted after each "try",
still getting same message (subject) from all drive "letters".

I thought you may like to know the end result of my problem, Kelly.
The link below will perhaps explain better than I can.

Navigate to and delete the following registry entries:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies
\Explorer\Run\"WinFile" = "%System%\drivers\Invalid.exe"
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies
\Explorer\Run\"DataAccess" = "%Windir%\Invalid.exe"

(The above two entries were not found in my registry but by resetting
the values of the following two, my "Drive letters" became operable
again.
"Recycler.exe" is a bug, it would seem, & can be "carried by anything
moved by a data pen".)

Restore the following registry entries to their previous values, if
required:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies
\Explorer\"NoDriveTypeAutoRun" = "95"
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL\"CheckedValue" = "0"

Exit the Registry Editor.

I have a similar RECYCLER that comes up when I try to access my main drive.
Are there any anti-virus solutions to this problem.
