Thumbnails get 'Page not found'

I'm putting thumbnails of .jpg photos on a page, and after publishing I get
a "page not found" error in the browser. Sometimes. Some of these work,
and some don't.

Details:

I have right-clicked on the thumbnail, set hyperlink properties to the file,
which is there.

I've tried deleting the thumbnail, dragging the whole picture to the page,
then autothumbnail. Same problem.

I've tried starting with brand new page, dragging one picture onto page.
Works sometimes, sometimes not.

I've tried Tools > Recalculate Hyperlinks. No help.

I've done a google groups search on thumbnails and hyperlinks, and don't see
any sign that others are having this issue.

I've reviewed the section on creating thumbnails in Jim Buyens's "Microsoft
Office Front Page 2003." Looks like I'm doing it right.

All the links between the thumbnails and the full pictures work perfectly
when viewing my local web with IE.

I was having this problem with FP 2002. Since I had purchased FP 2003, I
installed it -- same problem with each. I'm using Windows XP Professional.
Web host (aplus.net) has FP server extensions.

I'm stumped. Help appreciated!

Ah-HA! That did it! Thanks loads!

In the past I've just added files, including .jpg and .pdf, to the local web
root with Windows Explorer, then published that with FrontPage, and it
worked fine.

What's changed about having to "import" the files using FP? What's
happening besides their being added to the local web root? And am I
supposed to "import" files like Word documents as well?

Yes - import any files you use into to FP web/site before you use them
