Thumbnail problem

One of the great things I found using Movie Maker was the ability of Windows
to save the video clips with a picture of the first frame of said clip.

Sometimes when I save clips to my hard drive I have the picture (thumbnail)
and sometimes I don't.

Any suggestions?
oh yeah and I do have a MPEG-2 decoder...NVIDIA DVD Decoder

Depends on the first frame of the movie.
For example.....if the movie begins with
a Fade In or a Title...the first frame would
be black and the thumb would be black.

And...the .mswmm project files don't have
thumbs.

Yeah....I realize the fade in thing....all I'm getting is the windows media
player icon....play button with colors around it

I've tired the refresh option and they are already in thumbnail view.

The only other piece to the puzzle is that they are mpg files...however the
thing is that when I first extracted videos from my DVDs (sony handycam
finalized) using the software the handycam came with (picture package) the
thumbnails showed up...now they dont.
