Thoughts on electronic data capture

Hello,

Currently, we are managing the data end of a Phase I clinical trial by
having data entered into an Access database whose forms look exactly like the
paper CRF's that the information is originally captured on. As they move to
Phase II/III, we've been informed that they want to move to 'electronic data
capture', i.e., that these CRF's will now be filled out electronically. Does
anyone know of a tool or add-on that can be used to read these electronic
CRF's into an Access database? I don't know much about where these
electronic CRF's are stored, but I imagine it must be some sort of database
or file that could possibly be exported into Access. Does anyone out there
have any experience with importing data from electronic form files?

Thanks.

The people responsible are going to have to provide the specification
describing the exact format in which the data will be made available to you.
There is no way you can even begin to make any plans until you get that
specification.
