Hi, I'm having major issues printing from my Xp notebook.Until oct/november
last yr(06), my lexmark z11(parallel port) was printing fine but then the
printing slowed & eventually ceased completely. The printer seems to get some
information as it gets 1/2 way through its pre-printing process but then
stops. I have since got a new printer (HP deskjet 5650-USB lead) which has
the same problem where nothing will print from any programs, even word pad
etc.
I don't seem to be able to communicate with the HP printer from command
prompt either, although I may have been able to get the lexmark printer to
pull through a blank page from cmd once in the last year.
I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling drivers for both,
uninstalling/reinstalling LPT1 all to no avail.
I can't find winprint in the prtprocs folder but I've tried finding it on
the xp cd I got with my computer and it doesn't seem to be on there either,
so if this is the problem, where could I get winprint.dll?
One other thought was that my computer is set to get automatic updates and I
wondered if this was caused by one of the XP hotfixes?
Please help as I'm running out of ideas as to what the problem is & I do
really need to print from this computer&I've spent ages (literally days!)
trying to work out&fix the problem but there doesn't seem to be any
information in the microsoft knowledge base that helps.
