ThinkPad Restore Problem

I'm trying to use my XP restore for my IBM ThinkPad and it goes
through everything until the last 34 minutes when it freezes up. I've tried
removing the battery, CDROM, changed the RAM with no luck, guessing its a
hardware issue. I have a second IBM with the exact same specs and used it
to load the XP on the hard drive but when it boots up it freezes on the XP
screen. Any suggestions/ ideas?

Thanks,

David

David, are you using the restore function on the Thinkpad or trying to load
XP from the CD Rom? How long have you waited when it was froze up?

Trying to restore with the restore CD that came with it. Loads all the
software then gets to 34 minutes remaining when it freezes up. I let it sit
for about a half hour when I gave up.

David,

Avoid using the restore CD that came with your ThinkPad. Instead use
the F11 function associated with your machine which is on almost all up
to date IBM ThinkPads.

Restart machine and hold or press F11 and follow the instructions.

What series is the thinkpad? A T or an R etc?

I was able to load an OEM copy of XP on the ThinkPad A20m but after all the
loading it freezes on the windows XP screen. Laptop had been infected with
viruses, could it be the bios?

Can you now boot from the CD? If so do you have a virus CD (McAfee of
Norton's)? Try running a scan. Not sure how that will do since the CD will
not have the latest virus definitions but it is worth a try? Good luck.
