Things just don't add up

Things just don't add up. If I click my computer I can see that my 'c'
drive is 19.5 GB with 6.2 free which implies that I've used 10.1GB.

If I select explorer & right click 'c' drive it tells me that have 6.2 GB
free & 13.3 used. This is leaves 2.8 GB unaccounted for.
I select 'c' drive & set view to display hidden folders. After selecting
everything in 'c' I right click properties & it tells me that I have used
9.2GB. This figure is different from the My Computer figure. Why should
this be?

I also edit video which results in very large files which are often
difficult to delete & for that reason I never capture to my 'c' drive. I
don't have Norton's recycle bin installed & disk cleanup tells me I only
have few MB in the recycle bin.

Any ideas as to why the figures don't add up? How do I recover the 2.8GBGB
not accounted for?

Just guessing, but some of that may be explained by the temporary storage
areas used by System Restore, virtual memory, video devices, drive indexing,
and so on. Some of these storage areas, while currently used, can be freed
up for other uses if drive space is low. As such, there may be some
disagreement between the two above as to whether this space is really used
or still available. Further, one may be better at reporting hidden data
stored on the drive itself, from Windows, DOS, and/or the manufacturer.
However, I may be entirely wrong, so I'll certainly watch to see if someone
else comes up with a better explination.

Hmmmm, seems to add up correctly here.
19.5-6.2=13.3 same as selecting explorer & right clicking.

All the best,

LOL. You're right. I didn't even look at the numbers carefully, going off
his comment of things not adding up instead.
