Thermal issues for 2.8 GHz P4 533 FSB ?

I want to build another PC, this time using a 2.8 GHz P4 (533 FSB). My last
homebuilt (4 years ago) was an Athlon 1.0 GHz that runs VERY hot and needs a
good quiet cooler to keep the fan noise at an acceptable level. For the new
PC I've been planning to use an Intel D865PERL MOBO and the 2.8 GHz P4 CPU.
I want this new PC to be a quiet one. If I get a boxed CPU it may need a
quieter fan - that's Ok. I just hope I'm not picking one of the hotter CPUs
again. I went through hell with that 1.0 GHz Athlon. But it was a good
learning experience - for learning about monitoring software and fans and
cooling design. I want to get off to a better start this time. I'll choose
something besides the P4 if that is a hot one.

I would like to get advice from people here that have experience with the
2.8 GHz P4. Also suggestions for quiet coolers. Maybe I will use a Zalman
this time. Has anybody got a Zalman on their D865 PERL MOBO? I know the
Zalman is heavier than recommended. Also it probably restricts access to
the menory slots - which means you might have to take it off to tinker with
the memory.

Thanks. Bill S.

No heat issues and AFA noise, that's a personal obsession that differs for
everyone. I use stock fans On Intel CPU's.
