There is *definitely* a problem with Vista's VPN component

Does anyone know if Microsoft is aware of this yet?

Sometime after (the actual time varies from 30 minutes to many hours)
I establish a PPTP VPN connection to my remote work network (hosted by
a Windows 2003 SBS SP2 server), I lose connectivity to the shares on
my *local* Windows 2003 SBS SP2 server. For example, my local Outlook
2003 is no longer able to "see" its PST data file, which is on a
mapped drive on my local server. The problem also happens with any
files opened by Word, Excel, Notepad (or anything else) in that they
cannot be saved back to the shares on my local server. I am also
unable to open any of my network shares on the local server (except
sometimes my "Documents" folder, which is redirected to the server).

Disconnecting the PPTP session usually resolves the situation
(sometimes I have to log off or restart my computer) and I can then
access my local shares (it is necessary to restart Outlook before it
will reconnect to its PST). After re-establishing the PPTP
connection, the process repeats.

So far through the course of regular upgrades I have replaced the
hardware (with fresh OS installs) in my local server and my desktop
running Vista. I have also upgraded my switch and my Ethernet patch
cables. Note that the problem does not occur when my desktop computer
is booted into Windows XP SP2. The problem must be with Vista and I
have encountered it since I began using Vista when RC1 was released.

You may want to disable use default gateway on remote network. or this troubleshooting may help,
