The old Explorer forgetting settings trick again

Q

Qu0ll

On my laptop, most Explorer-like windows such as Computer and Control Panel
retain their settings when closed and reopened but the actual Windows
Explorer itself does not. I have tried clearing the window size and
location cache using CCleaner but this hasn't helped.

How can I get Windows Explorer to remember its dimensions and settings
without jeopardizing the settings of other windows?

Hello Qu0ll,

Method Two in this tutorial will show you how to have Vista remember
the settings for a window for when it was last closed. However, it will
reset the other windows to.

Thanks Shawn, I have tried your tutorial's methods in the past and they have
always worked but no matter what I do this time it just won't remember the
actual Explorer's window settings. As I said, other Explorer-like windows
such as Control Panel and Computer _do_ remember their settings which is not
usually what happens when this age-old bug shows itself.

Any other ideas?

Qu0ll,

After you applied Method Two, did you set the window the way you wanted
it and close it for Vista to remember it for the next time you opened
it?

Yes Shawn, I did. It's proving to be very temperamental.
