The old .dbx file

This might be a really silly question but I was wondering about the old .dbx
file that needed to be deleted every so often in the OE. Is that still
applicable in WM? I haven't used in OE in quite in some time and having only
been using Vista now for about a month or so. I remember with OE the .dbx
which had something to do with the Deleted Items, could get really big,
despite regular cleaning out of the deleted items box.

I hope I'm making sense. lol Basically I guess I want to know do I have to
delete an equivalent file in WM to keep it maintained?

Thanks, Nicole.

No. There's an easier way to do it in WM. Click on Deleted Items, then on
Edit, then on Empty 'Deleted Items' Folder.

No, you don't have to do anything like that in WM or WLM.
It will offer to compact the message database every so often when closing
the program.
You can set how often this occurs.
Tools - Options - Advanced - Maintenance

I hope that was posted with sarcasm.

In OE, using the 'easier way' that you suggest, it didn't actually seem to
do the job. When looking at the .dbx file, despite having emptied the
deleted items folder, it was a huge size. I was curious and because of the
help I'd received on a problem my friend was having I thought I'd ask.

Thanks Dave, I appreciate that. Up until getting my laptop I'd been using
Outlook as OE was just getting really buggy. WM is excellent though.

In OE the file size did not decrease until it was compacted.
