The name is already in use as a service name or a service display

I had installed a Belkin USB wireless network adapter. I updated my windows
xp and it no longer reconizes the hardware. So I uninstalled the Belkin
device and tried to reinstall it. I am not able to install the driver for
the device because I get an error message stating that the name is already in
use as a service name or a service display name. Each time I attempt to
reinstall the device, it add a new version or instance of the device to in
manager the device name reads Belkin 54 Mbps Wireless USB Network Adapter
#2...#3...#4 etc. I have called Belkin and of course they say it is a MS
problem. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Go to Start/Run, and type DEVMGMT.MSC , highlight the USB Hub devices, Action menu, "Uninstall", then restart Windows, to find the
device drivers again automatically.
