the importance of using edlin

Hallo and sorry for my bad english :)

As i know there is no other way than using "EDLIN" to edit a remote file in
a telnet or psexec context (commandline!) ... or is there another one?

"edit" doesn't work, notepad works locally ...

:)

Thanks for your kind support

If it's a small file you might be able to use the "copy con: filename"
trick. It copies the console input to a file. You can then type (or
paste) text. End the session with a control-Z.

yes i know this trick but using in a psexec -> cmd "environment" often the
copy-con locks down after the ctrl-z (exiting)
Otherwise if it's a machine setup for telnet sessions then it'd be
good idea to add text oriented tools. Packages like cygwin help do
this.

i thought cygwin was a package made for running apps created for linux ...
but now i think i was wrong...
