The frame function in Word

If you mean Insert->Frame, you can either
a. go to Word Office Button->Word Options->Customize-select All
Commands, then locate Insert Horizintal Frame and add it the the QAT.
Then click on the QAT icon. Or
b. Insert Tab->Insert text box, insert the text box, then select it,
right click->Format text Box->Text Box->Convert to frame

Or maybe you meant something else?

The third way to get it is from the Forms toolbar as in the past. This
requires enabling the Developer tab (Office Button | Word Options | Popular)
and choosing the Legacy Tools palette in the Controls group on the Developer
tab.

Thanks Peter... good move.
However, why can't we find the answer in HELP.. Help does not have anything
on frame. I wonder why.
Also.. the link in the email sent to notify of your reply does not work.

Thanks anyway. I could not have found it by myself.

Nope... this one does not work. I don't see any Legacy tool palette in
Office button > Word Options > Popular with the Developer Tag opened.

And since I am writing to a Word MVP... why can't we easily modify the
content of the Style marquise. I wish I could include only the styles I need
and not to have to open the style panel.

Thanks for your reply.

You have misread the instructions. The legacy tools are on the developer tab
It is the developer tab that is enabled from Word Options > Popular.

However, why can't we find the answer in HELP.

Well, I do not work for Microsoft.

Word 2007 Help is not good in many of the areas in which I have a
particular interest. I do not know what drives MS's Help policy, but I
would guess that some considerations are
a. cost
b. features they tried to replace several versions ago, such as
"old-style Word frames" are not first in the queue for proper documentation
c. statistics on usage "out there" probably play a major part in what
gets documentation attention.

That said, I don't really understand why they can't bring forward the
old documentation. Also, being a support-type person, I take the view
that it's actually the least-used and oldest features that need the best
documentation (because their community of users is diminishing and
therefore less able to help). But they seem to start almost from scratch
with each new version of Office. Perhaps they always set out with good
intentions, but end up being overwhelmed by the scale of the task.
Also.. the link in the email sent to notify of your reply does not work.

That's something to do with whatever web interface you are using to
access these newsgroups.
