I recently purchased a new laptop with Windows XP Home. I was previously
using Windows 98 (not SE.) I have an HP LaserJet and two Epson inkjets
connected to the laptop.
I am consistently getting error messages stating "The document failed to
print." Sometimes the document DOES print, but other times it doesn't print
all the way or at all. This happens with both types of printers (laser and
inkjet), but usually only happens when the printers are connected through a
USB hub (powered or not powered, 1.1 or 2.0) or a USB printer hub (that
connects printers to two different computers), but not when connected
directly to the computer's USB port.
The LaserJet has a parallel cable that is connected via an adapter/converter
to the USB hub (it predates USB by a few years.) The inkjets are USB only.
I've researched this up and down, in various newsgroups and have found that
other people seem to be having the same or similar problems-- and always
with XP.
Can anyone offer any suggestions about how to improve this situation, short
of never using USB hubs?
Thank you!
